PMRA Pro Modified and OSCA Super Street Outlaws highlight event
CAYUGA, ONTARIO (June 20, 2008)
– Cayuga Dragway at Toronto Motorsports Park will be presenting a
weekend filled with a variety of top drag racing action as it presents
the KC Auto Parts Family Day presented by Paul Wolf Electric &
Lighting Supply Inc., Osram Sylvania and Independent Electrical
Distributors June 28 and 29.
“This weekend will be one of our biggest shows
this season at Cayuga,” stated Neale Armstrong, Director of Track
Operations. “We will be hosting a wide range of drag racing, just about
something for everyone.”
Highlighting the racing will be the return of
the PMRA Pro Modifieds for the KC Auto Parts Family Day, the fourth
annual event for the popular Pro Modified cars, which travel down the
quarter mile at speeds up to 230 mph in six seconds.
Also
on hand will be another popular series of drag cars, the OSCA featuring
the Super Street Outlaw cars, competing in the OSCA “Canada Day
Shootout.” These stock-appearing cars run with unlimited engine
restrictions on 10.5-inch wide rear tires.
The PMRA will present its show in a single-day event.
There will be three PMRA qualifying sessions on
Saturday, June 28 starting at 2:00 p.m. Championship eliminations for
the top eight qualifiers will begin at 7:00 p.m.
Saturday night’s show will feature a fireworks display to compliment the racing action.

About Toronto Motorsports Park:
Toronto Motorsports Park is a multi-faceted
auto racing facility featuring an International Hot Rod Association
sanctioned drag racing facility, and two road circuits of 1.2 and 1.8
kilometers in length. There is regular Sunday drag racing, plus several
special events throughout the season. Located just west of Cayuga,
Ontario, three miles south of Highway 3 on Kohler Road.
About the Pro Modified Racing Association (PMRA):
The Pro Modified Racing Association, www.ProModifiedRacing.com,
was organized late in 2004, started racing operations in 2005, and is
entering its fourth year of operation. The PMRA is a self-governing
organization with input from its teams, and adheres to the technical
and safety rules as outlined by the International Hot Rod Association
(IHRA) and the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA). The series has
event venues in Ontario, Quebec, and New York State.
Cars
in the PMRA capture the true spirit of hot rodding, and the class is
one of drag racing’s most exciting and colorful classes, offering a
diverse group of race cars with different types of 2,500-horsepower
supercharged, nitrous powered and turbocharged engines.
No Pro Modified team has dominated in the
history of PMRA events. In 2005, 2006, and 2007, each event was topped
off with a different winner, and 2006 Grand Bend Motorplex winner Joe
Boniferro became the first repeat winner in series history, winning the
2007 Grand Bend race.
Combining classic body styles and modern
equipment, constructors are permitted, within established rules and
parameters, to modify and enhance the cars in both appearance and
performance. The cars are fuelled by gasoline or methanol, propelling
them down the quarter-mile in low six-second times at over 200 miles
per hour. The PMRA provides drag race fans the opportunity to see,
hear, and experience the popular Pro Modifieds, known as "the world's
fastest door slammers".
