WIN ON SUNDAY; SELL ON MONDAY CARRIES MAJOR MEANING WITH BOBBY LAGANA, JR.
SAN ANOTNIO, Texas – The automotive industry carried a strong marketing concept in the 1960s when drag racing was used to showcase their latest concepts and trends. The term, race on Sunday, sell on Monday was not idle chatter. Dealerships were serious about selling the same cars running up and down the strips across the country.
This adage was initially locked into the Super Stock division and later Pro Stock.
The concept will take a new route in today’s world as Bobby Lagana, Jr. and team owner Evan Knoll will use the concept to boost sales for Michigan’s largest automotive dealership. Their program will be centered around an 8,000-horsepower Top Fuel dragster -- obviously not your average showroom vehicle.
Lagana will fly the banner for the Seelye-Wright Automotive Group in 2008. His objective is to bring awareness of the massive automotive complex based throughout Western Michigan.
The Seelye-Wright Automotive Group carries every major American manufacturer from General Motors to Chrysler to Ford. They’ve also added successful non-domestic dealerships as well. A quarter-century of doing business has only lent credibility for the group.
“Evan Knoll continues to amaze me,” Seelye-Wright founder and President Bill Wright said. “He’s an incredible person and an asset to drag racing and for that matter, beyond. With that said, we are planning to use his Top Fuel team as a platform to boost sales nationwide for our dealerships. We have an incredible opportunity to showcase our unique programs and the service after the sale opportunities. I am looking forward to the opportunity to showcase our company through Bobby Lagana and Knoll Gas Motorsports.”
Also on the nameplate for the Knoll Gas Motorsports dragster will be SinFuel Choppers, a top name in domestic motorcycle customs. The father and son team of Dan and Deekn King. SinFuel Choppers has joined together with Knoll Gas Motorsports and Torco Race Fuels, Inc. to provide a pair of custom motorcycles – one of which will be themed towards the team’s POW-MIA tribute. This historic scoot will be raffled with the proceeds going to select veterans groups.
“Evan also wanted to do a ‘9-11 Never Forget’ theme bike, we are just about completed with that chopper, and it also will be on tour in the coming months with this team,” Dan King said. “It is incredible to see what all Evan does for so many, and we are doing everything we can to add to his program and keep things going with him. Building custom choppers is always great for Deekn and I, but to do one off custom choppers for such causes and to bring awareness for so many to be proud of who they are, what they are and what they stand for, is as cool as it gets! We just can't wait to get up each morning and start building these choppers for Evan.”
