BOBBY LAGANA GEARING UP FOR 2008
Team Torco Sorting out the Bugs before IHRA Start
VALDOSTA, Ga (Mar.
10, 2008) – Fan favorite and long time IHRA Top Fuel pilot, Bobby
Lagana Jr. is working hard to get set for the IHRA start in just a few
weeks. After joining forces with Clay Millican,
the team has been preparing for the 2008 race season with a new car,
expanded team, and big expectations.
“It’s been a rollercoaster for sure,” said Lagana. “That would be a perfect description. Two weeks ago, there was a car in the rafters at Clay [Millican’s] shop. We showed up at the end of last week ready to run, and made our first lap. Everything worked, and the car got to 400 ft, 500 ft fine. There was a couple of indications there was a clutch problem but we didn’t pursue it any. Then we made our second lap and the clutch problems got worse. We just had to sort through all
that was here and that wasn’t here. With a lot of this stuff, everyone went into this blind. We found the glitch, fixed it and went out there and wow. We found the problem, fixed the problem and went out there last night. It didn’t do what it was doing the previous two runs anymore and it acted pretty much kind of normal. Just the driver acted like an idiot. I don’t know, it’s just one of those things. We hurt a motor and didn’t need to hurt it. I believe now, we’re actually in really good conditions now. Just the driver has got to get over all
the flogging from the crew.”
With some test laps under his belt, Lagana is focusing on the positive. In just a few short weeks the team will head to San Antonio for the first IHRA race, and they are going with the intentions of winning this season. The once based New York team has been busy with a shop relocation to Drummonds, Tennessee . With
a winter move to join forces with NHRA driver Clay Millican, and
utilizing his turning talent with Johnny West and Lance Larsen, Lagana
feel’s the season will be a good one for him and his Torco Racing
Fuels, Seelye Wright, Knoll Gas Motorsports Top Fuel Dragster.
Lagana went on to say, “I think we’re in really good shape. We can’t be in bad shape with Johnny West, Lance Larsen, and Clay Millican in charge with all these crew guys. Dyno Dave came out to give us a hand this weekend with his whole family. I think we’re in really good shape. I don’t know what the plans are. I never know what’s going to happen because there is so much stuff to sort out to be 100% confident. I’m happy and just hope everybody is happy up in
Decatur , Michigan and that everyone has a good time.”
