“We are very excited to acquire these grandstands”, track general manager Jason Peterson said.  “They will further enhance the race day experience for our fans.”

Peterson has been looking to replace the west side stands for two years.   With the continued growth of the Torco Race Fuels Northern Nationals Nitro Jam event, which has broken attendance records for two consecutive seasons and the addition of the ADRL AMS Staff Leasing Summer Drags on June 6-7, Peterson knew he had to make the improvements.

  The current west bleachers were the only item left from the facility’s $14 million dollar 2003 reconstruction.  The new purchase serves two major needs.  The new seating structure will add approximately an additional 3200 seats to the overall capacity of the Park, going from 15 rows in height to an impressive 30 rows.  It will also modernize all of the grandstands on the property to aluminum, ridding the park of any wooden bleachers.

“Knoll Gas Motorsports Park at US 131 was already a terrific place to watch a race, now it will be that much better,” IHRA president Aaron Polburn said. “Jason Peterson and his wife Stephanie have been such tremendous promoters, setting attendance records at the Northern Nationals the last two seasons. The 3,200 additional seats will be a welcome addition. With their aggressiveness and ability to promote I have no doubt we will be able to fill those seats come Aug. 1-3. Jason and Stephanie have worked tirelessly to improve their already impressive venue.”
