Traction Trouble Sends Millican into ‘Monday Nationals’ at Las Vegas
Clay Millican and Evan Knoll’s RATT – Back for More Tour Top Fuel team will be running in the “Monday Nationals” at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. “It’s our lose on Sunday, test on Monday routine,” said Millican following a first-round loss to Evan Knoll Racing’s Melanie Troxel in the opening round of the ACDelco Nationals. “We jokingly call testing the ‘Monday Nationals’ because there usually are a lot of cars staying to test.” Millican raced a tough competitor Sunday. Troxel qualified third (4.529 seconds) to Millican’s 14th (4.582 seconds). She was able to wipe out a starting-line difference of .027 seconds with a 4.514-second time that was third-best of the round. Millican’s RATT Mobile encountered traction trouble and he coasted to the line in 8.147 seconds at 89.78 mph. “We knew we had to go fast against Melanie because her car fast,” Millican said. “The traction wasn’t where we tried to apply it and the tires spun. We aren’t quite where we want to be yet but the car has been going down the race track.” This probably will be Millican’s final 2007 test session. The team travels to Pomona, Calif., for the season-ending Auto Club Finals, Nov. 1-4. Jessie Harris to Make Test Laps in RATT Mobile Millican won’t be the only driver in the race car on Monday. Aspiring Top Fuel driver Jessie Harris “will make a couple more laps in the RATT Mobile,” Millican noted. Harris currently drives a jet-powered dragster. |
