Millican Says Las Vegas Good
Place to Start Top Fuel Win Streak
Two races, two opportunities to claim a Top Fuel victory – that is what the
2007 NHRA POWERade Series campaign has come to for Clay Millican and Evan
Knoll’s RATT – Back for More Tour team.
Is Millican happy as his first full season of NHRA competition is about to
reach its conclusion?
“Yes and no,” he answered. “We want to get our first NHRA win before the
year is over and we have two chances left, so we’d better hurry up and get it
done.”
First up is the ACDelco Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway,
Friday through Sunday.
“Las Vegas is a really cool place to race,” added Millican, a Drummonds,
Tenn., resident. “And it would be good to get our first one there. Team-wise,
everything is going good. The guys on the crew were able to get a little rest
before going out (west). We are going to do whatever is necessary to turn
on four win lights on Sunday.”
The popular drag racing veteran will be very relieved when that time comes,
and he admits to “being disappointed we haven’t won one yet..”
“We have been close before, but we haven’t performed the way we should have.
” Millican continued. “We are constantly working on it -- doing ordinary
things extraordinarily. That’s what (Indianapolis Colts) coach Tony Dungy
says in his book that he tries to do.
“We just have to perform.”
Anything crew chief Johnny West learns about the car’s performance in the
final two events will be carried into next season, which, incidentally,
launches at Pomona, Calif., Feb. 7-10.
Meanwhile, the curtain comes down on the RATT Mobile’s 2007 campaign at
Pomona, Calif., Nov. 1-4.
