Millican Hanging on to 16th at Indianapolis |
RATT Mobile Post 4.595-second Time
CLERMONT, Ind., Sept. 1, 2007 -- New crew chief Johnny West made a couple bold changes and was rewarded with a 4.595-second elapsed time and 16th place Saturday after two days of qualifying for Monday's U.S. Nationals at O'Reilly Raceway Park.
"We made changes this weekend that we've ordinarily couldn't do with testing it on non-racing days," said Clay Millican, driver of Evan Knoll's RATT -- Back for More Tour Top Fuel dragster, following his 4.595-second run at 327.74 mph Saturday evening. The time pushed him back into the top 16 at 16th with the final two qualifying runs coming Sunday.
"He replaced the entire fuel system and made changes to the clutch and got the results. We're not jumping up and down because we are 16th, but we are happy with the results. We'll be trying to run better tomorrow to get off the bump spot."
