Rookie Pro Stock Driver Gets Second No. 5 Start in Row
RICHMOND, Va., Oct. 6, 2007 -- Justin Humphreys enjoyed one of his finest qualifying days of the season Saturday in the Torco Racing Fuels Nationals at Virginia Motorsports Park. Humphreys ran back-to-back 6.656 and 6.657 seconds to pick off his second consecutive No. 5 starting position. "Our car is running good. Our second run (Saturday) was second-quickest of the session," said Humphreys, driver of the Knoll Gas-Energy Pontiac GTO. "And that is exciting. The car is acting like a race car. It keeps getting better and better. Bob (Glidden) tried something different on that last run and the car liked it. "We'll have a good race day setup and we want to go rounds. We'd also like to get a win before the season is over." Humphreys meets Mike Edwards (12th at 6.681 at 205.82 mph) in the first round. This is the 21st of 23 races. |
