Once back in the pits, the entire crew from Dave Arce’s team quickly jumped into action and helped Jason and crew Chief Steve Teets get the number 80 modified ready for the main event. “We definitely could not have done it without them, the whole crew from the #2 car jumped right in and worked their tails off to get us out there,” Jason explained after the race.
Fast qualifier Danny Gay rolled a 6 car invert, putting Patison on the inside of the second row for the start of the 75 lap main event. When the green flag flew Jason got a good start, staying right on the back bumper of pole-sitter Mike Salm and passing Joey Mogar who started in the number 2 position. Jason then dove to the inside of Salm and completed the pass for the lead on lap 3. For the next 68 laps the race stayed green and Jason used the low line of Havasu to extend his lead, lapping up to 5th place in the process. After the race’s only caution on lap 71 Jason lead the field around to retake the green flag and cruised to victory over the final 4 laps.
Jason’s series leading 3rd victory moves his Lucas Oil modified team within 22 points of the lead with 3 races remaining. The series will return to Havasu 95 Speedway on October 6th for stop number 7 of the 9 race shootout. Check the Versus network for airdates and times and visit www.jasonpatison.com for more updates!
