FOLEY & LEWIS CONTINUE CANADIAN DOMINATION
When Doug Foley and Tim Lewis first decided to campaign a Top Fuel dragster in 2004, the first race won was the IHRA Canadian Nationals at Toronto Motorsports Park in Cayuga, Ontario. In 2005, the duo and their Mach Series Accelerator-sponsored Top Fuel dragster won the Toronto event again. The year 2006 found the team in the final round, with the win clearly in their grasp before an untimely accident sidelined them for the balance of the year. And now in 2007…
Driving the Foley & Lewis Mach Series Accelerator-sponsored Top Fuel dragster team car, Terry McMillen once again proved the team’s Canadian domination with the win at the IHRA Canadian Nationals presented by PartSource.

During qualifying, McMillen earned the Friday night Last Man Standing award for Low E.T., eventually finishing in the No. 4 spot after qualifying ended on Saturday night. At an event where that ugly four-letter word (rain) postponed eliminations until Monday, the wet stuff still managed to disrupt eliminations due to moisture seeping through the track surface Monday afternoon. Shortly after the first round, it was decided to shorten the track to 1/8-mile in order to finish eliminations.

In the final, McMillen turned back Tony Zizzo with a 3.106-second elapsed time over Zizzo’s trailing 3.313. McMillen might now be applying for Canadian citizenship as it was his second win this year in Top Fuel, with both now coming in Canada. He said, “This is just great for us to win here and for Evan Knoll (sponsor) and the team.”

Doug Foley , who had decided to remain home in New Jersey to spend some family time due to an open weekend, said, “We had sent the car up there with Glenn Camp calling the tuning shots and he obviously did the right thing. Doug Kuch was there to assist, but for the most part, left the decisions up to Glenn. When Doug [Kuch] had to leave on Sunday before eliminations started, it left the bulk of the calls to be made by Glenn. Both Tim [Lewis, co-owner] and I are ecstatic about the job he did.”

Co-owner Lewis, who was in attendance at the event, said, “Because of the unusual circumstances of having to run the event on Monday, Glenn Camp had little more than a skeleton crew to work with, but the whole team pitched in and got the job done. I am really proud of these guys.”

The win places McMillen solidly in the Top 5 in points, with their sights now set on moving up. The next event on the schedule is the Suzuki Motor City Nationals presented by Heritage Newspapers and GM Performance Division on the weekend of September 21-23 in Milan , Michigan .
