Mechanical Malfunction Slows Todd
SKULL Shine Dragster Doesn't Go Far

CLERMONT, Ind., Aug. 31, 2007 -- The belt driving the SKULL Shine Top Fuel dragster's engine magneto broke Friday night, putting a quick stop to J.R. Todd's first qualifying lap for Monday's 53rd Mac Tools U.S. Nationals at O'Reilly Raceway Park.

"When it broke, the engine just stopped running," said Todd.

The belt broke early in the run and Todd pulled off to the side of the track. He couldn't complete the attempt and goes into Saturday's two qualifying rounds with no time. The team also has two more runs on Sunday to prepare for Monday's competition.
