Room for Improvement Going into Next Two Runs
CLERMOND, Ind., Aug. 31, 2007 -- Justin Humphreys' first qualifying lap Friday for the U.S. Nationals didn't go very far before he shut it off and he coasted to the finish line in 17.196 seconds at O'Reilly Raceway Park.
It left him a distant 32nd with four more qualifying attempts, beginning with two on Saturday.
"The car never shook," said Humphreys of his RaceRedi Motorsports/Knoll-Gas Energy Pontiac GTO. "One tire stuck to the track and I had to shut it off. I think we underestimated the track; it was pretty good."
The Monrovia, Md.-based driver gets two more runs Sunday before Monday's eliminations.
